Getting Started

NightBook is a text-based front desk for independent service providers who work by appointment, from massage therapists and personal trainers to plumbers and DJs. Your NightBook agent reads the messages clients send you, answers them in your voice, books and reschedules appointments, and keeps every channel in one inbox.
When a client writes to you on a channel you have connected — Telegram, iMessage or texts, email, your NightBook Chat link, the web chat widget, or the web inbox — your agent reads the message, works out what the client needs, and writes the reply. It can book appointments, answer questions about your services and pricing, handle cancellations and suggest times, all from what you have told it about your business.

New accounts start in Semi-autonomous mode: the agent drafts, and nothing goes out until you tap Send or Edit on the Review Queue. Switch to Fully autonomous whenever you are ready and it answers on its own, around the clock.
Only if the client asks — then it says so plainly.
Not at all. NightBook is designed for hands-on professionals, not developers. Getting started is: create an account, tell your agent about your services and hours, and connect a messaging channel. If you can send a text message, you can use NightBook.
Not the agent itself — NightBook starts once you pick a plan. We supply and manage the AI models behind your agent, and we do not spend them before there is a plan behind the account.

What is free is everything up to that point, and it is most of the product: create an account, walk the tutorial, add your services, hours and prices, teach your agent about your business, import your clients, connect your channels, and look around the whole dashboard. Our support chat answers your questions throughout. When you are ready, pick a plan (Plus, Pro or Max) on the Billing page and your agent starts answering.

Nothing is charged until you pick a plan, and no card is needed to sign up.

Messaging Channels

You can connect as many as you like, and every message lands in one inbox:
  • Works with any phone or computer — the NightBook Chat link you share with clients, Telegram, email (a managed NightBook address, or a forward from your own mailbox), an embeddable web chat widget, and the web inbox.
  • Needs a Mac — iMessage and text messages, both through the NightBook Relay app on your own Mac, and the Web Inbox Robot.

WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger are built and waiting for Meta's approval. They'll switch on as soon as Meta says yes.
No. NightBook is text-based. There is no voice answering today: if a client calls you, that call still rings your phone and NightBook doesn't touch it. What it does instead is make sure the texting never waits on you — every message on every connected channel gets an answer, at any hour.
NightBook is not an SMS provider. We have no carrier and no messaging vendor, we sell no phone numbers, and we bill nothing per message. There is no number to buy and none is handed to you.

Texts work the way iMessage does: through the NightBook Relay app running on your own Mac, with your own iPhone paired to it. Clients text the number they already have for you, on your own carrier plan, and your agent answers from the Mac. Whatever your carrier charges you for those messages is between you and them.

To set it up: open Messages, tap SMS in the channel strip, and follow the relay setup — the same Mac that handles iMessage handles texts.
iMessage is one of the two channels that need hardware. Here's why: Apple doesn't allow any third-party app to send iMessages — it's locked to Apple devices. So the only way to send real blue bubbles is to have a Mac running a small app called NightBook Relay.

How it works:
  1. Download the NightBook Relay app on your Mac — Download for Mac.
  2. The app watches your Messages for client conversations
  3. When a client texts you, the agent responds as a real blue bubble
  4. The Mac needs to stay on — a Mac mini left plugged in is enough

The same relay carries your green-bubble text messages, so one Mac covers both. If you don't have a Mac, Telegram, email and your NightBook Chat link work without one. We wish Apple would open up iMessage to third-party apps, and we encourage you to tell Apple directly.
Yes. Each channel works independently. One client texts the number they already have for you, another writes on Telegram, a third opens your NightBook Chat link — every message lands in your NightBook inbox, and the agent handles them all the same way. You share the link for whichever channel your client prefers.
Their wish is honored on every channel. When a client replies STOP (or unsubscribe, and similar words) on any channel, or uses the unsubscribe link in an email, NightBook confirms it once and then sends them no more automated messages — no reminders, confirmations or follow-ups.

If they write to you first, your agent still answers them. If they reply START, automated messages are turned back on.
Use Semi-autonomous mode, which is where every new account starts. Your agent still reads every message and writes a draft, but nothing goes to the client until you act on it: you see the client's message and the suggested reply on the Review Queue page, and you tap Send, Edit, or dismiss it and answer yourself. The mode switch sits at the top of that page.

Editing a draft is also the main way you teach it — your version becomes the example, and a later similar moment comes out closer to right the first time.

To stop it replying altogether, ask your agent in Chat — "stop replying to clients for now" — and ask again when you want it back. There is no on/off switch on the Settings pages. To silence one channel and leave the rest running, disconnect it from the channel strip in Messages.

Pricing & Billing

Every plan is managed — we supply and manage the AI models behind your agent, so there are no keys and no accounts with AI companies to set up:
  • Plus — $29/month: Fully managed, everyday usage included. 3 business Faces.
  • Pro — $99/month: 5× the usage of Plus, and 10 business Faces. The plan we'd point you at.
  • Max — $199/month: 10× the usage of Plus, and unlimited business Faces.

Any of the three can be billed yearly instead, at ten monthly payments — two months free ($290, $990 and $1,990 a year). Your included usage stays monthly on a yearly plan: it is the same plan, billed once a year, not a year of usage handed over up front.

The plans differ by how much monthly usage they include and how many business Faces you can run — never by which model runs your agent, and never by which features you get. Every managed plan runs the same model, and there is nothing to configure. Usage resets monthly. If your plan's usage runs out, your own chats with your agent pause first and replies to your clients keep going a little longer; then NightBook pauses until the 1st or until you upgrade. We never bill you more without asking. Signing up and setting your agent up cost nothing; it starts answering when you pick a plan, and you can cancel anytime from the Billing page in your dashboard.
Two things: the replies your agent writes to your clients, and your own chats with your agent — in Chat, the floating chat panel and the Telegram copilot, on the web, your iPhone or your Mac. The support chat is free and never counts.

If a month's included usage runs out, your clients come first: your own chats with your agent pause, and replies to your clients keep going a little longer, at no extra charge. Then NightBook pauses until the 1st, or until you move up a plan. The meter on the Billing page shows where you are.
The download is. NightBook for Mac runs on your plan, the same way the web app does: sign in to your NightBook account, and your agent answers on that plan, with the same usage. Without a plan, nothing runs on the Mac either.

Your clients, calendar and conversations are kept on your Mac and synced with your account while you are signed in. To write a reply, the message your agent is answering goes to NightBook's models — the same as on the web.
No. Your plan covers your agent, every messaging channel, scheduling and client management, and it is the whole price: no surprise charges. If you use up a month's included usage, your own chats with your agent pause first, replies to your clients keep going a little longer, and then NightBook pauses until the month resets or you move up a plan — it never quietly bills you for more.

NightBook also bills nothing per message, on any channel. Anything your own carrier, WhatsApp, or email provider charges you is between you and them.
WhatsApp is waiting for Meta's approval. Once it's on, if you connect a WhatsApp Business number through Meta, Meta bills WhatsApp's own charges to the card you add in WhatsApp — NightBook never adds to them. Replies to your clients are free. Reminders and other messages NightBook starts cost under a cent each in the US. Before you connect, the WhatsApp Business card shows an estimate for you — worked out from your last 30 days of appointments and messages, rounded up to the next dollar (a busy schedule comes to about $1 a month). It is an estimate: Meta sets the prices, which vary by country. Instagram and Facebook Messenger are free.
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Billing page in your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then. No cancellation fees, no questions asked.
We use Stripe for secure payment processing. Your card details are never stored on our servers — they go straight to Stripe, and NightBook never sees the card number. You can update your payment method, download invoices and cancel from the Billing page.

Privacy & Security

We take data security seriously:
  • Messages, client notes and your agent's memories are encrypted at rest, and everything travels over HTTPS
  • Passwords are hashed with bcrypt (industry standard)
  • We never sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing
  • Each provider's data is isolated from every other provider's
  • Your data is backed up daily, with point-in-time recovery for the database
  • You can export everything, or delete your account and have it erased, from Settings

What that does not mean is that nothing leaves our servers: on a managed plan, the message your agent is answering is sent to the cloud AI vendor we choose and pay for so it can write the reply. Our Privacy Policy names that vendor and every other one, and explains how NightBook for Mac handles it.
If you're a provider: tap Report abuse — the small flag link beside Report a bug (in the More sheet on a phone), or in a conversation's … menu. Pick the client or “Someone else,” add a line if you like, and Send. You can block a client in the same sheet. The client is never told.

If you're chatting with a business in NightBook Chat: tap … at the top right, then Report. It goes to the NightBook team, not the business, and your chat stays open.
The agent only processes messages that come through NightBook's connected channels. It doesn't access your personal texts, emails, or social media. For iMessage and texts specifically, you can set the relay filter to "clients only" so it only forwards messages from numbers already saved as clients — your personal conversations stay on your Mac and never reach NightBook.
Yes, in one tap. Two privacy switches live in Settings → Privacy & Data → AI & Privacy, and it is worth knowing that both are ON for new accounts:
  • Community learning — anonymized performance patterns help improve the platform for everyone. No conversations, client details or business information are shared; only aggregated signals.
  • Redacted examples — saves redacted, labelled examples from your account for NightBook's own future evaluation work. Turning it off also removes the examples already saved.

Turning either off takes effect immediately, and turning it off never changes what your own agent knows about your business.

Safety & Protection

Unsafe conversations pause until you decide. You stay in charge of every tough conversation. You're alerted right away, and NightBook never contacts anyone on your behalf.
No. Your agent is built to refuse eighteen kinds of crime — drugs, weapons, fraud, scams, stalking, sexual services and more. The rule lives in NightBook's code, not just in its instructions, and when the agent isn't sure, the reply comes to you for review instead of going out.
No. A reply that would promise a discount, refund, free session or waived fee you haven't set waits for your OK. Your own prices, offers and policies go out as you wrote them. And whatever a client says you agreed to never becomes a rule your agent follows.
Yes. A client who replies STOP (or unsubscribe, quit, end and similar words) on any channel gets one confirmation and no more automated messages — no reminders, follow-ups or scheduled texts. Every automated email has an unsubscribe link too. START turns them back on. Replies to their own messages, and anything you write yourself, still go out.
Your agent answers honestly: it's an AI, answering your messages for you. It never claims to be human.
Not for long. Each client has their own daily reply budget and a share of your month, so one person can't use up your plan or silence your agent for everyone else. When a client goes past it, looks automated, or tries a scam aimed at you — a payment trick, a suspicious link, pretending to be NightBook, fishing for your private details — NightBook stops replying to that client only and asks you with one card: keep replying, pause replies, or block.

Self-Improving Agent

Not by rebuilding a model — nothing about the model itself changes, and no new version of it is shipped to you. What NightBook keeps is a short list of plain-English rules about your business and your way of working, and that list is what changes. Five things feed it:
  1. You teach it. Tell your agent something in Chat — a policy, a price, how you like a question answered — and it is saved to your Knowledge, ready the next time a client asks.
  2. It remembers clients. When a client mentions something that matters ("I'm allergic to lavender"), it is saved as a memory against that client and used again weeks later.
  3. It learns your voice. Overnight it re-reads messages you sent yourself and rebuilds a profile of how you write, so drafts come out sounding like you.
  4. It learns from your corrections. Edit one of its drafts in the Review Queue and your version becomes the example. A later similar moment comes out closer to right the first time.
  5. It reviews its own night. Overnight, on your own clock, it looks back over recent conversations, studies the ones that went badly, and drafts a new rule for itself from your corrections, your ratings and what actually happened.

A new rule goes live the same night — a correction is an instruction, not a hypothesis — and NightBook then measures it against what happens next. See the question below for how that ends.
No. There is no training button and no form to fill in. Just use NightBook normally:
  • Tell it things in Chat, the way you'd tell a new receptionist
  • When a draft isn't right, edit it before sending — that edit is the lesson
  • Rate a reply, or leave a comment on it, and the overnight review weighs it

You can watch all of it on the Self-Improvement tab of your Agent Dashboard: a row for every knowledge entry, memory, voice refresh, correction and overnight rule, each one carrying the receipt it came from.
When you correct your agent — for example, telling it "always ask new clients about pressure preference before booking" — it doesn't just note that one correction. It turns the pattern behind it into a rule it follows from that point on.

The next time a new client tries to book, on any channel, your agent asks about pressure preference on its own. Over time it builds up a set of these rules, each one drawn from your real corrections and your way of doing things.

You can read every rule it has learned on the Self-Improvement tab of your Agent Dashboard, and your Knowledge and Memories live on their own tabs beside it — all of them editable, and any of them removable, at any time.
A new rule is tested rather than trusted. NightBook starts using it and measures it against your own recent results, and the bar scales with your practice: a solo provider seeing a few clients a day reaches it within days, while a busier one has to clear a larger sample. If a week passes without enough evidence, it is graded on whatever there is rather than left hanging.

Then it is kept if it scored better than the rule it replaced and rolled back if it scored worse. A tie keeps the old rule, because the conservative direction is not to change.

The honest caveat: a very quiet stretch may leave nothing to grade with. When that happens the Self-Improvement feed says so — "Kept the new rule — not enough conversations yet to test it" — rather than claiming a test that never ran. Either way every verdict is a row you can read, and anything the agent learned is something you can edit or delete yourself.

Features & Setup

It all happens on the Agent Dashboard, and mostly by talking to your agent in the Chat tab — tell it your services, your prices, your hours, your cancellation policy, and it writes them down for you. The tabs beside Chat are where you check its work:
  • Faces — one agent per business you run, each with its own services and tone
  • Knowledge — everything it knows about your business, editable line by line
  • Memories — what it has remembered about individual clients
  • Self-Improvement — a record of what it has learned and what it changed

The more detail you give it, the better it represents your business.
Yes. Connect your Google account from Settings → Scheduling → Google Calendar, and NightBook keeps your appointments in step with it.

NightBook asks Google for the narrowest access there is: it can only see and manage the events it created itself. Your other calendars and everything else in them stay invisible to us.
Yes — every message is logged on your Messages page. Replies your agent wrote carry a NightBook badge, so you can always tell them from the ones you typed. You can read the full conversation history for any client at any time.
When something is beyond it — a risky or sensitive topic, a rule you have set, or a scenario you haven't described — it stops and escalates to you instead of guessing. The conversation waits in your dashboard for you to answer. It is straight with the client about it too: it says it will check with you and come back, rather than making something up.
